I used graphite pencils (B, 2B, 4B) and my sketchbook. It took me around 10 minutes to finish the entire drawing. Next time I will document a more complex one, but I wanted to see how it goes with my first video try. Hope you like it!

I love how the web today lets us catch a glimpse of the things that people all over the world do. Video is a fantastic way of sharing ideas and documenting processes. I just shot my first little video of me drawing. Let’s hope it comes out OK! Here’s a screenshot of what it’s going to look like.

What a great way to spend the Easter Holiday…at home with my husband, lots of rest, good cooking, some Monopoly, photographs, mandalas, a visit to the Modern Art Museum (MAMM) to see Sophie Calle’s work, a Pearl Jam tribute (had lots of fun playing in it, thanks guys!), and grocery shopping.

I especially loved Sophie Calle’s exhibit. Her life has been so profoundly touched by loss. She expresses this in her work in such a stunning way, I highly recommend seeing her work if you get a chance.

A side note about the mandala I’m coloring, as pictured above…my mom taught me about mandalas so many years ago and recently she gave me a mandala coloring book. She showed me how to use it to meditate, to problem solve, to overcome anxiety. What a forward thinking mom, huh?

The little guy in the last picture has been hanging out on my window for the past three days. I hope he/she is not thinking of staying there for too long…gives me the creepies :/

Today I hope to be able to record my first video showing how I draw. So excited about that, I’ve had many people ask me how long it takes me to draw something, now you’ll get a chance to see the whole process. What are you upto today?

Blue canvas, speckled white. Makes our view fresh and kick starts the brain and heart.

It made me sad to see this little bird nest on the ground. No eggs where around, so I’m not sure if perhaps it fell off after they hatched. I hope so.

One of the perks of working on your own is you can take a break whenever you want! Of course, this is because you usally wind up working more hours once you go solo, but it doesn’t matter, it’s the best thing you can do! Today I am working on the last bits of my pencil owl drawing. A little tea time is called for. This one is called “Magia de Rosas” and it’s from a specialty tea company based in Bogotá, Colombia. It tastes as good as it looks. The book next to the tea set was purchased at a book thrift store, I think it cost me less than 3 dollars at the time. Gorgeous find!

Finished the pine cone illustration. Not very detailed but that’s what was I was looking for.

Today is a busy, busy day. A lovely pine cone illustration for a comission I received this week for a new company…I’m creating and designing its corporate imagery and adding some very special touches to it!

The owl is a noctural animal…lots of work to do tonight!

I am lucky to have this gorgeous view of the Andes mountains, right outside my studio window. Who wouldn’t get inspired?
