I was selected to exhibit my work in the Terminal 2 Art Gallery at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in November of 2021. The timeframe for this show December 2024 through June 2025.

I’m Catalina Villegas, an internationally licensed illustrator and augmented reality artist. My illustrations and pattern designs are used to enhance products and bring joy to people through the magic of art.

I hand draw all of my illustrations using an Apple Pencil and Procreate on my iPad.

I love traditional mediums, but Procreate has opened up a myriad of possibilities for me!

Plus, I don’t like storing physical art materials and this way I always have a clean working space. It’s soothing to my mind. :)

Augmented reality (AR) blends the real world with digital elements using your phone or tablet. My AR artwork combines illustrations with animations that come to life when you scan them, along with custom TikTok filters I create for a fully interactive experience.

For this Fort Lauderdale Terminal 2 Gallery exhibit I have created two pieces that incorporate augmented reality art.

The Florida Botanical Map and the Butterflies cutouts. These are the two main center pieces displayed on each wall.
